Hi, Xiaoman.
Briefly introduce yourself.
Three words to describe yourself.
What are you passionate about?
Why did you choose a media career in the first place?
Why digital marketing exactly?
Cool. How do your experience shape you?
Make a wish. 🍀
Hi, I'm Xiaoman Chen, a second-year graduate student in ✨Communication, Culture, and Technology at Georgetown University. As you may already know that I am a BIG cinephile, a life explorer, and a digital marketer😊.
Passionate, curious, fast-learner.
Visual art (especially film), emerging technologies, design, philosophy. Basically, I'm willing to explore anything unknown to me.
Good question. I'm always thinking about what carries me to this point at the age of 23.
Maybe it was the moment when 11-year-old me began to secretly watch my fathers' old DVDs. Maybe it was that sort of excitement when I shared my feelings on SNS after watching a new artist's performance. I have been really adamant about the 'unknown' as well as sharing findings with others because as someone who has considered her/himself to be an outsider of something, I understand now how much our access to representation shapes our ideas about who we are and what’s possible for us.
No matter it was a movie or the internet, for me, every form of media in my life has become a portal gun to travel another brand new galaxy. Now I'd like to travel with more people and share more.
Digital marketing has become a pathway I can see myself connecting the dots between all what I am passionate about. It’s an interdisciplinary field that combines visual design, storytelling communication, analytical thinking, sense of the market, and most importantly, new technologies that make our rising technological society more accessible and human-centered.
Being a student in communication and media major for over five years has strongly equipped me with an academic background and a practical skill set. Two years of working as a communication practitioner in both college and real-world internships gave me first-hand career experience. More details here.
An opportunity, please 😉.
